In a world where equality and justice should be the cornerstone of our society, the fight against violence toward women persists. It is with this unwavering commitment to change that the Women's Centre of York Region, invites you to join us on December 6, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This event aims to create a space for reflection, learning, and a collective pledge to end violence against women.

*Everyone has a role to play in ending gender-based violence, we would like to note that everyone is invited to attend. 

Reflect, Learn, Pledge: 

This event promises an evening of profound reflection, where attendees can learn about the stark realities women face and pledge concrete actions to end violence. The program includes eye-opening presentations, a vigil for the women whose lives were taken, and opportunities for attendees to learn more about how they can act to end gender-based violence. 

Admission is free, and there is no formal registration process. Simply join us at the event venue and sign in upon arrival. As a symbol of your support, we encourage you to donate and receive a purple or white ribbon. These ribbons serve as a visible commitment to standing against violence towards women.

Performance by Bianca Rollo 

Bianca Rollo is a musician, songwriter and performer from Newmarket, Ontario.

With almost 20 years experience in the industry, Bianca has performed many venues and stages in southern Ontario and the GTA over the years, as a solo act and with her band, Bianca Rollo Band. Performing cover songs in many genres from across the decades, Bianca has wowed audiences with her powerful vocals and performance stylings.

Bianca is also a songwriter and has released two EPs with original music; “Scribbles” in 2008 and “Hit the Road” in 2014. Bianca’s music can be found on all streaming platforms, with new music coming soon!

Bianca’s latest music industry endeavour has been the creation of the Burning Red Writers Round, where she host, presents and books local Canadian artists/songwriters to performing in a Nashville-style writers round. The three or four artists are all on stage together and take turns telling the stories behind their songs and the perform the songs. It’s a very intimate show in a listening room that Bianca describes as “magical”.
