one-on-one counselling

Individual counselling for women who experienced violence, domestic or otherwise, helping them regain confidence and work towards a sustainable livelihood, free from abuse.

How to Access Our Counselling Services

To access counselling at the Women’s Centre, please call 905-853-9270 extension 105 (on Thursdays between 10am and 12pm) to speak with the intake counsellor for a phone assessment. This 20-30 minute phone conversation will help us to determine if our counselling is well suited to support you or if another agency may offer a more appropriate service. Our counselling services are by self referral and offered free of charge.

Waitlist

If you are on the waitlist, please ensure that you let us know of any changes to your contact information. When your turn comes up for counselling, we will attempt to contact you up to two times over the course of a week to arrange your first appointment. If we are unable to contact you, your name will be removed from the waitlist.

Appointment Cancellations

As there is a high demand for our services, we expect you to keep appointments. If you cannot attend, we kindly ask you to advise us 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you do not come to a counselling session, and do not advise us in advance of your need to cancel or reschedule, your missed appointment will count as one of your sessions. If you arrive late for an appointment, the appointment will end at the originally appointed time.
