Women Leading Change: A Digital Publication: Celebrating 10 Women Transforming Our Communities
Introducing Women Leading Change – Coming Fall 2026
Across York Region, women are quietly reshaping what safety, strength, and community look like. Women Leading Change was created to bring their stories forward, celebrate their leadership, and unite our community in investing in the safety, stability, and well-being of women and families.
In recognition of these remarkable leaders, the Women's Centre of York Region (WCYR) will launch Women Leading Change this fall — an inaugural digital magazine featuring 10 women who are making a meaningful impact across York Region.
Through sponsorship, advertising, and community support, this fundraising initiative will raise critical funds for WCYR's #HelpKeepHerSafe campaign, helping women and families access essential programs and services.
Why It Matters
Every woman deserves to live safely, independently, and with dignity. For many, creating a safer future begins with access to the right support at the right time.
WCYR provides free, trauma-informed programs and services that help women move forward, including:
Counselling and emotional support
Housing support and system navigation
Employment services and financial empowerment
Group education, workshops, and community resources
The need for these supports continues to grow. In 2025, WCYR:
Supported 897 women
Reached 6,719 additional community members
Delivered 100+ programs and workshops focused on employment, mental health, housing, and essential needs
Through #HelpKeepHerSafe, WCYR continues to provide women and families with the resources they need to heal, rebuild, and create safer futures.

Each woman will share her story, her accomplishments, and the change she is driving. Together, these stories will:

Shine a light on the courage, resilience, and innovation of women in our community
